The saga began a week prior, when I was having one of *those* days – the kind where nothing seems to go right and you just want to curl up in a ball. We’d just been outbid on what felt like our dream house, a truly heartbreaking blow, and in a moment of utter frustration and sadness, I accidentally broke a glass bowl directly over my food processor. It was a chaotic scene, and in my emotional state, I admittedly didn’t do the most thorough cleanup. Fast forward to this week: I was blissfully making an almond coconut crust for a new recipe, completely engrossed in the cooking process, when I heard a faint, but distinct, clanking noise coming from the food processor. My mind, perhaps a little too optimistic or simply distracted by the promise of delicious dessert, dismissed it, thinking it was just the machine working hard or a stubborn piece of almond. Big mistake!

Upon investigation, to my horror, I discovered the true source of the persistent clanking: tiny shards of glass from the *previously broken* bowl had somehow made their way into the food processor and were mingling with my crust ingredients! Naturally, my first instinct was pure panic. My mind raced through all the worst-case scenarios. That’s when the invaluable text exchange with Courtney began, leading to a much-needed dose of medical advice mixed with hilarious reassurance. Her response? Classic Courtney – pragmatic, witty, and ensuring I knew what to look out for while also making light of the ridiculous situation. It certainly put things into perspective and reminded me of a few crucial life lessons, which I’m now sharing for your benefit (and amusement!):

Always Investigate Peculiar Noises: If you hear an unusual clanking sound while your food processor is running, especially after a recent kitchen mishap involving delicate items, for the love of all things holy, STOP and investigate! That weird noise is very likely a relic from a previous kitchen disaster, like that glass bowl you broke right over the appliance during a particularly bad day (you know, the one where you were having all the feelings from being outbid on your dream house and cried over the broken bowl and everything else). Don’t ignore it; your peace of mind (and dental health) depends on it. A quick pause and check can save you from a much bigger headache!
  2. Befriend a Nurse (ASAP!): If you don’t already have a best friend who is a nurse, run, don’t walk, and find one! They are *extremely* convenient for those moments of panic when you’re convinced you’ve ingested something dangerous, or simply need a calm, rational medical opinion. Their calm, knowledgeable advice is far less terrifying and infinitely more reliable than a frantic search on WebMD. They’re like having a personal medical hotline, always ready with practical solutions, reassuring words, and often a good laugh to lighten the mood.
  3. Embrace Deliciousness (with caution!): The silver lining in this glass-shard saga? A truly spectacular Keto pumpkin cheesecake is making its way to the blog tomorrow! It’s so unbelievably good, with a perfectly spiced filling and a rich, creamy texture. You’ll be tempted to eat it even if you *knew* there was a microscopic chance of broken glass in the crust! Haha! (Just to be clear, the broken glass in the crust is entirely optional, and I strongly advise against it in your own baking endeavors. Safety first, deliciousness a very close second!) This cheesecake is truly worth the effort (minus the glass, of course!), making for an unforgettable fall dessert.

This whole experience was a funny reminder that even on the tough days, humor and good friends can make anything better – and that sometimes, a little kitchen chaos leads to the best stories (and recipes!).
