With a flourish, I inserted the corkscrew, applied the usual gentle pressure, and began to twist. But instead of the satisfying pop of a pristine cork, there was an ominous snap. My heart sank as the cork, rather than emerging gracefully, broke clean in half, leaving a stubborn, fragmented piece firmly lodged in the neck of the bottle.

Last weekend was an absolute dream as we embarked on an engagement shoot at the iconic Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Its kaleidoscope of colors, classic rides, the sparkling Pacific Ocean, and the lively atmosphere create a dynamic and joyful setting that is utterly unique. These photographs aren’t just images; they’re cherished memories, beautifully preserved, and a wonderful testament to our journey towards forever.
Anniversary Adventures: Portland Bound and Cherished Memories
The excitement in our household is palpable because Shawn and I have just booked an incredible trip to Portland, Oregon! We’re heading there on October 1st to celebrate our 2nd anniversary, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. This trip holds a special significance, not just as a celebration of our milestone, but also because of how we managed to book it. We owe a huge thank you to the awesome sale Southwest Airlines had this week! Thanks to their fantastic deals, the round trip tickets for both of us cost a mere $236 – an absolute steal that made this anniversary getaway even sweeter. Finding such a great travel deal always adds an extra layer of satisfaction to the planning process, proving that memorable trips don’t always have to break the bank.
This trip also continues a beautiful tradition we started last year. For our 1st anniversary, we embarked on an adventure to Seattle, Washington, and had an absolutely unforgettable time. The city’s unique charm, stunning natural beauty, and vibrant culture captured our hearts. That experience was so much fun and so enriching that we decided right then and there to establish a new annual tradition: every year for our anniversary, we would choose a new city in the US to explore. It’s a wonderful way to mark our milestones, create new memories, and discover the diverse landscapes and cultures within our own country. Seattle was truly amazing, offering everything from iconic landmarks to hidden gems, and it set a high bar for future anniversary explorations.
But beyond the beautiful sights and delicious food we experienced in Seattle, the best part of that trip, and something that continues to move me deeply, is a video Shawn made. He is incredibly talented at capturing moments and weaving them into compelling narratives, and this video of our Seattle trip might just be my favorite one he has ever created. It’s just so… us. Every time I watch it, it makes me tear up, filled with a profound sense of gratitude and love.
