I also attempted to dive into the newest Jodi Picoult book, but sometimes timing is everything, especially during pregnancy. The novel centers on a woman who works as a death doula, guiding individuals with cancer through their final journey and confronting difficult themes surrounding mortality and grief. While I usually appreciate Picoult’s poignant, thought-provoking, and often challenging narratives, this particular theme was just too emotionally intense and stressful for a very pregnant momma to process right now. With hormones in full swing and a new life on the cusp of arrival, I decided it was best to circle back to this one when I can give it the emotional space and focus it truly deserves. For now, I’ll stick to lighter, more uplifting reads! Fun fact: I’ve also read all of Jodi Picoult’s books, a testament to her compelling and consistently impactful storytelling.

Luckily, my reasoning worked, and we successfully avoided having a worm roommate, much to my relief and Josh’s temporary, yet adorable, disappointment!
